Skiing Part 2 - lesson with Cassidy

We decided to let the kids have another lesson before the season comes to an end.  Cassidy had also only had one other lesson, but her’s was a private lesson, so she was a little further along than B.  They ended up getting in the same class, and they were the only two kids in the lesson, so it worked out great.

March Randoms

So, on rainy Sundays in the Pacific NW, you sometimes have to be creative with ways to have fun, especially with a high energy 6yr old in the house.  This is a target range set up in our stairway – then they were using our kids Bow&Arrow or nerf guns to shoot them down.  It was worth hours of entertainment!

I got a kick out of this….Brennan had a lesson at school where he had to draw a picture of something that he can do to help the family…..and he does empty the dishwasher which is a big help.  I loved his picture!

Again, thank goodness for the dress-up bin on rainy days in PNW!  Caelan picked out this wonderful mixed-up ensemble……oh, and this is a first glimpse of her major haircut!

Sean was shocked that I let it get cut so short, but I was ready for the ‘rats nest’ to go away.  There were many days where her hair would barely get brushed and because her hair is fine and wavy, it was just a mess.  It is amazing to me how it naturally turns under – it looks as though I’ve curled it that way, but now when she wakes up, it looks like that, and no more rats nest!

On St. Patrick’s Day, I made a dinner that ended up dirtying almost all of our pots and pans.  Brennan really wanted to try and play my old violin, so he was motivated to speed up the after-dinner process.  I could get used to this….B washed and C rinsed!

Frozen in More Ways Than One

This is a bit random……but, we had a dinner party with the Hoffmans, and the kids watched the much beloved movie Frozen…..this is them all lined up in a row and ready to watch the show….

Brennan has been begging to go skiing so we finally signed him up for a lesson in late February.  He did very good for his first time on skis….

Final San Diego Pictures

On our final day in San Diego, I had Nana take Caelan and I off base to go to the famous Coronado Hotel (our hotel was on the Navy Base, which meant that we could not get back to our hotel without an escort with a military ID) .  There is a person who builds a huge sandcastle on the beach in front of the hotel and he builds a new one every few days.

There was a Pistachio Convention of some kind going on at the hotel, so that is why there are pistachios on the sand castle.

I took this picture just as we were checking out of our hotel the day we left.  We lucked out with a great view from our room.

Legoland 2014

A highlight to our trip to San Diego was our drive 1hr north to Legoland.  Brennan’s personal heaven!

Baby sister is a huge daredevil.  She LOVED all the rides.  Not far from this ride is where we actually lost her for about 10min.  Luckily someone who recognized her from a line we were in earlier turned her in – and we found her fairly quickly – but it was a scare!

Of course, B couldn’t have been any happier than to find the Star Wars section of the park…..

It is so tricky when you have kids, and you are faced with a situation in which you have to lie.  We stood in line for this ride, and towards the front, we saw all sorts of signage saying that kids needed to be a certain height (which Caelan met) and that children needed to be FOUR.  I just knew that Caelan would be just fine on the ride, even thought she was barely 3 1/2, so I explained to Brennan that if I was asked, I would say that his sister was 4.  Sure enough. the lady admitting people to the ride, looked at Brennan and said ‘how old are you?’  Brennan froze, and instantly said ‘my sister is 4’…..the lady smiled and said, yes, and how old are you?  Once she was strapping B into the ride, I saw him talking to her and he looked at me sheepishly, and I’m pretty sure he ratted me out on our lie….oh well….as I suspected, she was fine!

B finally go the courage to go on an actual roller coaster!

Anyone who says the ‘twos’ are terrible, doesn’t know the 3’s!  This is her reaction to me trying to take a picture of her driving a car….

Bonfire & Sunsets on the Beach

After the hike we had a big BBQ and bonfire on the beach.  Here is Caelan hanging out with her cousin Oakely (7yrs old).

The next morning we were able to get a picture of everyone on the beach.  This is take #1

Can anyone spot what’s wrong with take #2.  …..that’s my boy…..

And, this is why we got her hair cut almost immediately after getting back home to Washington.  Her hair was out of control!

Oakley will be a star actress someday!  She’s a real ham!
