The Big Fall!

My poor little baby took a fall down the patio stairs last night - he really did a number on his nose and face. I was BBQ-ing and the neighbor boy was talking to me over the fence, trying to sell me magazines. Sean had come out to see what we were talking about, and then we heard B crying. He is alway so good going down stairs the "safe way" - ie backwards, that clearly we take that for granted. He was bleeding, and of course we both were so worried to see what was bleeding. He took out a little divit of skin right under his nostril, and he bonked his head good. He also had a little bit of bleeding at the gumline around his front tooth. Our neighbor is a nurse at Childrens Hospital so she came by last night after her shift. She checked him out, and by that time he had eaten a huge dinner, and was running around the living room like a crazy person - "showing off" for her. He clearly felt OK, but he sure did cry for a long time. It was terrible. The first piture is last night before we gave him a bath, and the second is "the morning after."

Turning Turning Turning

Brennan has learned to turn in a circle.....he thinks it pretty funny to come out dizzy. In this film he was spinning with his monkey.

Sunny Happy September in Seattle

On Friday we went to the University of Washington so Brennan could participate in a study on Childhood Development. First we had to fill out a survey of all the words that Brennan understands, and then a book on all the words he says and understands.
Then during the study, they had me hold him on my lap while he watched a short little movie. Then, they had me turn him around and there were two toys on the counter. They wanted to see which one he would choose - there was a lego & a little people, and he chose the little people first, and then went for the lego. Then a student sat in front of him and asked if she could have one. He wasn't willing to give up either toy. The study was for 15 month olds, and to see what their understanding was of give & take, and fairness. He was very attentive, and smiley, but he is clearly not ready to share. It was interesting anyway, and maybe we'll get called again for future studies.

The pictures I have to post are kind of random. Sean has been in full football watching mode, and was so pleased when Brennan wanted to sit on his lap, eat chips, and watch football....even if it was for only a couple of seconds. He also learned to put his arms straight up over his head when Sean says "touchdown" I also got some cute ones while he ate his lunch yesterday. Oh, and his little friend Cassidy got back from vacation on Friday, and he was very excited to see her this afternoon.

HIking Adventure this weekend

We went hiking this weekend with Jenny. It was a really nice hike and Brennan was a very good boy! He fell asleep on the way down...and we didn't get home until quite late, but we all had a great time. Brennan does really well riding in the backpack. Oh, the first picture is of him coloring while we were getting our gear together.
