Happy Halloween - 2012

So, Brennan’s school did not allow kids to wear costumes to school, but luckily his friend Grayson hosted a Halloween Party this afternoon, so he was able to wear his costume out-and-about.  He flip-flopped many times about what he wanted to be.  For the party, he settled on Darth Vader from Star Wars.  I made the ‘control panel’ and belt a few nights ago.  The other pieces were hand-me-downs.

Unfortunately, we couldn’t find his red light saber, so he settled for ‘forcing’ moves….shown below….

Below is an example of what happens to pumpkins in the pacific northwest when you get them the first weekend in October, and carve them right away…..a moldy, buggy, mess – a perfect home for slugs.  Eww!

The grossness did not phase Caelan, she still wanted to pose with them.

So sad this is blurry…..I love the contemplative gooey pumpkin gaze….

Here’s what I got when I asked Brennan to pose…..in a surprise turn of events, Caelan was in no mood to pose.  She was ready to get-the-show on the road.

Last week we did some decorating – art project.  This is Brennan’s Casper the ghost & bats…..these hung hanging down over our porch.

The Day Before Halloween - 2012

Yikes…..I need to get caught up on posting pictures before the next round hits tomorrow with Halloween.

Below is a collage I put together of my two ‘punkins’ with their pumpkins.  They were pretty excited about them.  I’ll spare you a picture of what they are looking like right now….it isn’t pretty….they are full of mold and bugs and slugs.  (shh….we can’t wait to put them in the trash after tomorrow).  The scary one was Brennan’s design, the happy white one was mamas, and the little one was Caelan’s.

Aunt Molly was here last weekend – she was in Seattle for the whole week for a work conference.  Caelan really liked her from the get-go.  She was a snuggle-bug with her all afternoon while Aunt Molly watched football.

Last Sunday, Brennan and Caelan spent some time in the backyard playing before we headed out on errands for the day.  I love these shots of her crazy hair.

Our neighbor at the end of the alley is a dog groomer, and we have called her “Dr. Doolittle". She has a parrot, and countless number of dogs and cats.  She also had a RAT at one point that ended up in our yard that scared me half to death.  Anyway, she had this puppy in the alley on Sunday and Brennan had a fun time holding the puppy.  It was a little Jack Russell terrier and was very cute.  I think it was 9weeks old.

On Sunday night, the kids and I went to my gym to go swimming.  When we came home, Sean surprised us by having Root Beer Floats waiting for us.  Brennan is just not wild at all about anything fizzy or soda-based, so he was less than impressed, but Caelan sucked hers down FAST.  She was pleased as punch – but very tired.

Pumpkin Patch Fun 2012

I decorated for Halloween on Saturday and decided it was time to re-introduce Caelan to EEK! and Meow – and she was pretty excited to meet her new friends.

On Sunday, after a lazy afternoon I packed up the kids and headed to Fall City Farms to get some pumpkins.

First stop….freshly made donuts and fresh apple cider in a pumpkin bottle.

Next stop, hayride.  The shot below was taken by Brennan – surprisingly good, actually.

Final stop…..find a couple of pumpkins……

After dinner, we set out to carve our pumpkin.  Goodness…..it was one thick pumpkin!   This was the first and only time Brennan put his hand in the pumpkin guts.  Caelan, on the other hand, really got into it.

The next night we carved the white pumpkin….it was even thicker than this one.  I haven’t taken a picture of it yet, though…..stay  tuned…..

Star Wars Reads 2012

Our local library hosted National Star Wars Reads day, and we went with Brennan’s great friends Alexander and Cassidy…

Of course, it is not a Star Wars party without a Darth Vader…..the boys were a little scared at first….

But soon got into battle mode.

Outside is a cool park and Brennan was in full Jedi Battle mode…..I love this sequence….

Not sure I could have set up with this shot if I tried….>I love how it looks like Alexander is bowing to the honorable Jedi Brennan…..
