Camping Trip 2012 - Part 1

In mid February, my friend and I made reservations to go camping together.  That's how camping is done in Washington....you have to make reservations months in advance, before you actually know what the weather is doing.

We left for our camping weekend in mid-August in Cape Disappointment State Park.  It was beautiful, the entire 4 hour drive there.....and then, in the last 10min, as we drove to the campground down the hill, we came into the clouds, mist, wind, and cold.  Uugh....

But, we set up tent, hoping that the misty, cold, wet fog would clear out....but it didn't so we dug out our long johns.

It was Caden's 4th birthday on Saturday, so we celebrated with cupcakes that Brooke had brought along.

Caelan and I slept in the back of the car, and Brennan and Sean slept in the tent.  It was a little rough getting Caelan to fall asleep outside her crib.  She tossed and turned, and cried....until I started signing "Firework" by Katy Perry (the Glee Version) - then she quieted - made fireworks with her hands and said 'moon, moon, moon'.....Sometime in the early morning I opened my eyes to find her head smooshed on my pillow.  She fluttered her eyes open long enough to give me a cheesy grin, flutter her eyelashes, and go back to sleep. This was actually my favorite part of camping.

This is us on Sunday morning.

This is Caelan passing the time while we pack up.  We decided that one night was enough for camping with 5 kids in miserable weather and started packing up our stuff Sunday morning.

Of course, the kids had fun despite the weather.  The boys played Ewok/Star Wars adventures, and climbed trees....luckily  my friend Brooke is a nurse.

Montana Summer Trip 2012 - Part 4

My cute girl.....I just love those lips and her crazy hair......

this one called for black and white....

Brennan was very excited to show me Grandpa's kid rifle when I got to the cabin.....they were shooting at a target up ahead.
 Sitting with her pal.....

While I went to my 20th Reunion in Great Falls, everyone went to the fair.

Caelan loved Cade...and wanted to hold his hand and sit with him whenever possible.  Grandpa was a little crushed.....but didn't hold a grudge.

Brennan looks real happy here, but I guess things changed pretty quick.  Midway through the ride, cousin Sean had to put his arm around him and talk him out of completely freaking out.  Needless to say he didn't want to go on the spider ride again.

Caelan is my daredevil.  She LOVES rides.....
she went on this ride all by herself....
I wish this wasn't so blurry.  I asked Nana if she is crying or laughing here and she said DEFINITELY LAUGHING!  She loved it....

Snuggling up with cousin Cade...

After waking up from her nap one day I set her up with her earphones and iPod for some Elmo time......she found a good place to sit too.  She was SET.

Sheepishly putting on Aunt Erin's shoes....
Crazy girl....she LOVES salsa.  The chip is merely the delivery system.  She double, triple, quadruple dips each chip, until it is falling apart.
After dinner on our last night at the cabin, we went up to a little pond for the kids to swim.

I know, I know....amazing that he actually eats really good.....he is just skin, muscle and bones this kid....and clearly a 'product' of the Pacific NW - he almost glows in the dark.

LOVE this picture of Cade with his frog....

Caelan broke Gandpa's heart by dropping him like a hot potato for her cousin Cade, and then Sean's cousin's son Garret showed up, and she dropped Cade.....she LOVED Garret and wanted him to pick her up all the time.

She loved him so much she wanted to give him her cookies....

Montana Summer Trip 2012 - Part 3

Despite being sick, Caelan enjoyed working her muscles to push the cart of wood all over the cabin...

Throwing rocks over the embankment with Nana....

Hiking with Caelan.....you can see she went from being happy to being sad.  She didn't like me letting go of her hand to take pictures.

She loves to try and feed herself yogurt.

One of his favorite tasks.....feeding Grandpa's horses.

Sean spent most of his time helping Grandpa harvest....

Grandpa found that it was a little difficult to pick huckleberries with a toddler on your shoulders.

So, papa took over....she was tired and not really very interested in hiking....
