Happy 7th Birthday–Part 2

I was very happy when Brennan told me what he wanted as his birthday theme this year – ‘The Lego Movie’ – especially once I figured out that it would actually be available to watch in time for this party.  Yes, instead of elaborate games and activities, the kids could just watch the movie!

But, I like to go a little crazy – its just something I like to do.  So, we watched the movie in the garage from a projector I borrowed…..everything went off without a hitch.

Brennan’s special request was popcorn & gummi worms, so that is what the kids ate during the movie.  Afterwards they had pizza and cake, of course.

I marked everything as being $37 because in the movie, the main character is shown going in to get a coffee and is more than happy to pay $37 for his morning latte (a Starbucks nod).

The theme song from the movie is ‘Everything is Awesome” – so I made this sign along the same theme….

Course….it couldn’t be a Lego Movie party without playing with actual Legos, right?

Happy 7th Birthday Brennan! Part 1

It is so hard to believe that my baby boy is SEVEN!

These pictures were taken before school the morning of his actual birthday.

Brennan was very ‘bent out of shape’ because he thought that the arrows of my sign pointed at Caelan, and that it looked like she was seven too.

Caelan remained unaffected by her brother.

Brennan’s big present this year was a brand new bike.  Caelan and I waited in the garage for him to come home from school so that we could see him see the ‘big surprise.’  When Sean opened the garage door, he wasn’t the only one with a big surprise……I was shocked to see Nana and Grandpa had driven all the way from MT for Brennan’s birthday.  Sean didn’t even know they were coming – they had coordinated with Jen Hoffman.

We went out to dinner at MOD pizza and then Brennan decided he wanted to come home and just have dessert at home.  This is his ice cream sundae.

Misc. Outdoor Fun May 2014

I love this picture below – I’m sorry that I cut off Brennan’s head – but I love my no-shirt, snow-boot wearing, lily-white skinned boy jumping with all of his might onto the lawn.

Below we were testing out the projector I borrowed from a friend to use during Brennan’s birthday party.  What better movie to use for ‘testing’ than Frozen?

Love the shot below too….total chance to capture my sweet girl wearing my shoes playing a recorder with all the pizzazz she could muster.  I’m sure our neighbors love it!

Happy Mother’s Day 2014

I woke up on Mother’s Day to a feast of a breakfast made by Sean.

My presents were so perfect – an organizer for my scarves, and for my jewelry!

May School Fun

I’m obviously way behind schedule again on blogging….but, better late than never!

This is Brennan’s ‘All About Me’ poster from the 1st Grade.  In particular, I love the picture of the helicopter.  This was inspired by visiting Uncle Ken’s Helicopter when we were in San Diego in April.  The family picture is a ‘selfie’ we took of our family that was also used for Nana’s birthday present.

The picture below if from a card that Brennan created for Nana for Mother’s Day….he knows that my favorite flower is a tulip, so he drew lots of those, and then in school, he was learning lots about plants and started to draw roots on one of the plants, but then realized he had drawn too many flowers and he didn’t want to draw roots on all of them….and insisted on writing the narrative below…..

The pictures below are from Brennan’s 1st Grade Music concert.  He did a very good job this year.  I wish I had gotten a picture of the whole scene once all the kids were in their places.  There are 8 classes of 1st graders, which is A TON – it was a packed house for sure!
