Happy Father’s Day 2013

On Father’s Day, Brennan woke me up early so that we could go on our mission.  I came up with the idea to get Apple Fritters (Sean’s favorite) from all 3 donut houses in Issaquah and have the “Great Father’s Day Apple Fritter Challenge” – testing Sean’s knowledge of where his favorite apple fritter might come from.  Unfortunately, one of the places didn’t open until 8am and we didn’t want to wait that long.  So, we had two contenders, and Sean knew right away which one was from Krispy Kreme (his favorite).

After our feast we headed to Gene Coulon Beach Park to watch the kids play.  It was a beautiful day and despite the cold water temperatures and kids loved swimming around and playing in the sand.

They were of course quite cold when they decided to get out of the water.

Caelan basically commandeered this hole that the boys had dug for her own personal hot tub.  She was quite happy sitting and playing there for quite some time.

But was quite ready for a snuggle before it was time to get in the car to head for home.

Grandma Carol & Grandpa Roger’s Visit–Part 2

A fun thing we got to do together this visit was to go to the Chateau Ste. Michelle Winery for a show – a live taping of the Garrison Keillor radio show.  We had a great day.

Grandma Carol & Grandpa Roger Visit–Part 1

The weather really co-operated for G&G Young’s visit to WA this year.  It was so nice that we ate our dinner outside.

Both kids are so good at scootering.  Sean was watching them and called me and said ‘you gotta see what Caelan is doing now – and bring your camera.’  Not sure how she got this idea, but you can see that she was as pleased as could be about her stunt.

Reading this book of rhymes with Grandpa has become a tradition.  Brennan favorite part is Ba Ba Black Sheep.  The first time Grandpa read it he accidentally said “one for the master, one for the dame, and one for the little boy who lives down the DRAIN” and Brennan has never forgotten that.  He absolutely gets the biggest kick out of saying it wrong.  (should be the little boy who lives down the LANE)

Caelan got tired of her brother being so goofy, so she found Grandma inside to read her a different book.

Fun and Games in the Backyard

Lots of fun in our alley & yard to kick off summer.  Below is a Brick-a-Blok house that Cassidy and Brennan built – and their pet caterpillars.

Brennan has gotten to be very good at Baseball.   He’s not on a team or anything, but he and Sean have a good time in our backyard.  Perhaps we’ll have to look into getting him on a team……not sure how he’d handle idle team in the outfield….

Tiny Tigers Karate

We enrolled Brennan in the Tiny Tigers Karate Program through the City of Issaquah.  He really liked it – and I think we’ll pick it back up again in the fall.  He had his Kindergarten Music concert on the same night as the last Karate class – with just 15min in between so we had to race from one activity to another.  On nice days, the instructor took class outside, and I was lucky enough to get some great pictures of his last class.

Karate went long, and we were really racing to get to the school, but we made it.  I didn’t have my tripod, and I wasn’t in the best spot – so unfortunately, none of my videos of the concert really turned out.  But, here is a still picture of Brennan with his class.

Baby Bed

I found this little bed at Small Threads (local consignment shop) but it needed a bit of TLC.  I sanded it down and painted it white, and even tested my sewing skills to make a little mattress for it out of an old receiving blanket.  I was pretty pleased with how it turned out.

Special Time with Nana

Time with Nana usually involves Lightsaber battles and Lego time.  This visit was no different.  Brennan definitely has the moves!
